Grit Daily: What do you love most about working in the fashion industry?
Catherine Bibeau: “What I love most about working in the fashion industry is being able to express myself and bring to life everything that crosses my mind. Creating clothes is a true passion for me, and I love to see people feel proud and beautiful of what they look like in clothes. Fashion is constantly changing, and I love this challenge and the speed fashion goes by having to style new looks. There is always lots of action, it is exciting, inspiring, and we always meet new people.”
Grit Daily: What is a project you’re most proud of?
Catherine Bibeau: “The project that I am the most proud of is my photoshoot in Palm Springs, California, where I had to create a story in the middle of the desert. It was magical! Directing a team, managing every aspect in a location where there is nothing around you truly challenged me and tested my expertise. Building different looks that told the right story and expressed a certain lifestyle in a scene was challenging yet rewarding. In fashion you have to work with what you have and move think on your feet!”
Grit Daily: How do you stay up to date with current fashion trends?
Catherine Bibeau: “Viewing fashion shows, shopping online, reading fashion magazines, paying attention to current runway collections, fashion blogs, walking into stores and analyzing, studying what repeats the most, and absorbing the colors, the different fabrics, and the cuts of the clothing as well.
“Always keep your eyes open and explore!”
Grit Daily: What is your favorite fashion trend at the moment?
Catherine Bibeau: “My favorite fashion trend at the moment is skirt suits. The statement preppy mini skirt with the matching blazer that brings the vintage classy look back. I love it worn in light colors, such as the barbie light pink, that is very in at the moment and precious.”
Grit Daily: What’s the most exciting part of your job?
Catherine Bibeau: “The most exciting part of my job is to be able to create and express myself. To bring to life what I have in mind! Looks that speak on their own! To achieve beauty in many ways into different trends.”
Grit Daily: Do you have any advice for young designers or stylists looking to launch their careers?
Catherine Bibeau: “My best advice would be to be a perfectionist by being different and unique. Building a strong image of yourself and what you do to stand out is the key, and also to believe in yourself. As a designer, to always keep the quality in mind and to offer a story unique of your own into your creations. And as a stylist, to create looks following the trends that truly catches the publics eye and always have a special personal touch of your own! The beauty of fashion is that it is a story that we tell through clothing and looks expressing a lifestyle, a journey and the beauty of self-expression.”
