In the realm of the 2024 Farm Robotics Challenge, the convergence of technology and agriculture takes center stage as a means to address real AgTech issues in the field. This groundbreaking (literally) competition has the ambitious goal of pushing the boundaries of agriculture while challenging a new generation of automation engineers with a passion for agriculture.
The year-long competition kicked off on September 19, 2023. There is still time to bring a team together for this new season as proposals are due November 15, 2023. Development will start on January 31, 2024, and project judging will take place in early September 2024. Teams from the previous 2023 challenge were assembled at various university labs and clubs around the world and worked on their challenge projects throughout the year.
This year, the competition is introducing a new division for 2-year colleges, making the challenge more inclusive and providing a broader platform for innovation. Participants will work with the state-of-the-art Amiga robot from Farm-ng, focusing on small-farm applications to make a meaningful impact on local communities.
