Flawless Will Collaborate With the Max Planck Institute for Informatics to Bring AI and Filmmaking Together
Flawless, an Artificial Intelligence (AI)and entertainment startup based in London, has officially formalized a partnership with the Max Planck Institute for Informatics (MPI-INF) to revolutionize the field of AI-empowered graphics.
The collaboration will be done with the research department of Christian Theobalt at the MPI-INF. In conjunction with the appointment of Pablo Garrido, former Research Scientist at Epic Games, the partnership brings together a team of leading experts in AI, filmmaking, and technology. Theobalt referred to the partnership with Flawless by stating:
“Flawless is a unique film company in its embrace and implementation of cutting-edge AI science. It developed a groundbreaking new way for visual dubbing of movies. I’m excited to collaborate with such a passionate and talented team on researching open questions in AI and computer graphics.”
Founded back in 2018 with the mission to bring science and art together, Flawless is using AI to give filmmakers control over how they tell and show their stories. Its first and most popular solution is a platform that allows for seamless translation of foreign-language films by using AI to create perfectly sip-synced visualizations, improving the viewer’s experience while reducing costs. The startup’s collaboration with MPI, an organization that has incubated 22 Nobel Laureates, will allow it to take its technology a step further. Scott Mann, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Flawless, said in this regard:
“I have long been a great admirer of Christian and the incredible, groundbreaking work he has pioneered with the MPI for Informatics. His initial breakthroughs on capture and neural rendering of faces inspired the formation of Flawless and as a filmmaker, I believe that this exciting field of science is going to revolutionize the film industry and storytelling across the globe. It’s an honor to be working alongside Christian and Pablo in our shared passions to advance these technologies forward into the movie industry.”
As machine learning continues to be adopted in several industries, its application to filmmaking has already been recognized as a priority by many experts. Flawless’ TrueSync solution was recognized by Time magazine as one of the best innovations of 2021, which is sure to help the startup expand its leadership in the niche by creating new opportunities to apply its technology.
