Global paytech PPRO hires e-commerce tech veteran Bernie Miles as CTO

PPRO has hired tech product veteran Bernie Miles as its new chief technology officer (CTO).

The paytech says it is experiencing substantial growth

Miles will be tasked with driving the development of the company’s cross-border payment technology and will head up a global team of engineers based across Munich, Berlin, London, São Paulo and Singapore.

Miles has 20 years of experience working with e-commerce and fintech brands, including Expedia, Hotels.com and Klarna.

In his most recent role as head of engineering for Europe at Wayfair, he worked to increase the company’s engineering capabilities on the continent.

Miles says the payments industry is seeing greater demand for cross-border e-commerce and a more diverse payment ecosystem, “where both businesses and consumers have greater choice when it comes to how they buy and pay for online products and services”.

PPRO CEO Simon Black says Miles’ experience “will enable us to propel PPRO and digital and local payments forward”.

PPRO claims it processed €8.84 billion for its partners in 2020, including Citi, PayPal and Stripe.
