OSARO will unveil its robotic bagging solution for fulfillment operations at MODEX 2022 in Atlanta. The OSARO Automated Bagging Solution pairs one of OSARO’s piece-picking robots with automated bagging machines from Pregis and PAC Machinery. The system can fit existing bagging and packing stations, making implementation easy.
OSARO’s solution combines advanced robotics with automated packing and bagging equipment, and is able to package 350 individual parts per hour. The system was created for fulfillment centers, warehouses and direct-to-consumer e-commerce centers, but its primary use-case is for single-item order fulfillment using polybags in e-commerce applications.
“Warehouse and logistics operations globally are wrestling with an acceleration of consumer demand and a shortage of labor,” Derik Pridmore, CEO of OSARO, said. “By automating common manual processes such as movement, storage and retrieval, and picking and placing, fulfillment centers and e-commerce operations can become more efficient and cost effective, while mitigating labor issues.”
OSARO’s piece-picking technology doesn’t require users to register items before the robot can begin working. Instead, it’s able to identify and handle inventory items that it’s never seen before. Its barcode scanner ensures orders are fulfilled correctly.
The robot is able to pick a wide variety of items, including boxed items like dry goods or cosmetics, pouches, envelopes, bags, bottles, tubes, blister packs, multi-packs and apparel in bags.
According to the company, installing five of its Automated Bagging Solutions will, on average, save the fulfillment center 20-40% of costs over five years.
“PAC Machinery provides innovative packaging solutions that give our customers a competitive edge. PAC Machinery poly-bagging systems, coupled with OSARO’s smart robots, are the fastest path to the next level of automation. This is the future of packing and fulfillment operations,” Greg Berguig, vice president of sales and marketing at PAC Machinery, said.
OSARO creates robotic solutions for the materials handling industry. In August 2021, it raised $30 million in Series C funding. It planned to use the funding to accelerate global growth and extend its solution and support offerings.
