Jude Law’s Riff Raff Entertainment has tapped Stephen Fuss for CEO as it receives a multi-million dollar cash injection from Calculus Capital.
Riff Raff was founded by Law and creative partner Ben Jackson in 2017. The new hire, VC investment and recently inked first-look deal with New Republic Pictures, will give the company a new remit to acquire and develop IP for film and television.

CAA Media Finance arranged the deal.
The plans are to acquire “highly sought-after material” which they can develop with “premium writers” in both the U.K. and U.S. Further hires will be announced shortly.
Among the projects Riff Raff is already working on are a Sharon Horgan comedy, a David O’Russell political drama titled “Best of Enemies” and a new drama from Jonathan Glatzer (“Succession”). The company’s first project was Ruth Wilson starrer “True Things,” which premiered at last year’s Venice Film Festival.
Fuss is a former media attorney who previously worked at a leading U.K. media investment house where he oversaw the worldwide film and television division. Among the projects he invested in are “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” “The Maze Runner,” “Carol” and “Fault in Our Stars.”
He set up Stargrove Pictures in 2018, which helped spearhead a venture capital fund for the British Film Institute.
“I am so excited to be CEO of Riff Raff Entertainment and join the magnetic, incredibly talented team with Jude and Ben at the helm,” said Fuss. “With the objective for the company as both a creator of premium prestige film and TV content and an incubator of exciting new writing and directing talent, it’s an incredible opportunity for me to attract premium IP and continue to secure exciting talent on projects.”
Law and Jackson added: “We are thrilled by the support from Calculus and excited to welcome Stephen to Riff Raff as CEO, who joins with a wealth of knowledge and tenacity. With many projects in various stages of development across film and television, we look forward to continue to break the mould in the space of entertainment with exciting new talent and captivating stories.”
John Glencross of Calculus Capital said: “We are very excited to be supporting Riff Raff Entertainment in its continued growth and to be working with Jude, Ben and Stephen. Jude’s achievements as an internationally recognised and acclaimed actor allied to his and the team’s determination to become a major production house creates a powerful combination. Riff Raff is developing a slate of premium film and tv content which will appeal to audiences worldwide.”
