This DevOps Startup, ‘LinearB’, is Optimizing Software Development Practices for Improved Operational and Business Efficiency

A data-driven approach is required for continuous improvement of the software engineering process in a company. With the correct information, software development teams can communicate effectively with business executives, team leads can free up delivery bottlenecks and ship projects more quickly, and developers can assist their coworkers more. There is a lack of data analytics tools that are specially designed for DevOps to improve productivity based on objective data-driven insights.

LinearB, a California-based company, is helping organizations keep track of software teams with its data analytics platform. The platform integrates tools for project management, source code, deployment, and incident management with analytics to aid in the discovery of potential areas for automation. It provides software delivery information, and its technology offers efficiency-improving insights into the DevOps and application development processes.

The platform identifies and benchmarks an organization’s engineering metrics to help their teams focus on five key areas, namely, engineering efficiency, code quality, planning accuracy, data integrity, and PR process. It provides many metrics for DevOps teams to improve their performance. Its developer workflow optimization bot, WorkerB, helps developers save time by automating manual tasks. To locate bottlenecks and automate developer workflow improvement, it correlates data from several tools, like Github, Jira, Slack, Microsoft Teams, etc.

The company aims to continuously empower dev teams to improve performance and accelerate delivery with Software Delivery Intelligence. They claim that 80% of the organizations using LinearB see Month over Month Cycle time Reduction.

The company recently raised $50 million in a Series B funding round. The round was led by Tribe Capital. Salesforce Ventures and existing investors, Battery Ventures, and 83North also participated in the funding round. Sri Pangular of Tribe Capital will join the organization’s board of directors as part of the funding. This round brings the company’s total raised to $71 million.
