Meet ‘ZeroEyes,’ A Philadelphia-based AI Security Startup that Detects the Weapon and Sends an Alert to Prevent and Stop Active Shooter Threats

Nearly 20,000 individuals were killed by guns in 2020, while a further 40,000 were injured. The figure excluded the estimated 24,000 gun suicides in 2020. In other words, 51% of all suicides and 75% of all homicides involve firearms.

ZeroEyes, an A.I. weapons detection technology based in Greater Philadelphia, helps identify gun threats at first sight to protect communities from violent threats. ZeroEyes claims that it can identify any mass shooter with a gun and promptly alert law enforcement and security agencies before the first shot is fired by integrating with current I.P. security cameras. Additionally, ZeroEyes is able to provide security professionals and first responders with a series of notifications and real-time information when a verified gun is spotted using its weapons detection algorithms because of its interaction with existing security and surveillance camera systems.

By reducing response times, providing actionable intelligence with images, and bringing clarity to chaos, ZeroEyes’ proactive, human-verified A.I. gun detection software solution, which integrates into existing security cameras, claims to mitigate mass shootings and gun-related violence and ultimately saves lives. ZeroEyes is claimed to be the first video analytics solution to be designated as a SAFETY Act DT&E by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as a promising anti-terrorism technology.

With AI platforms, human verification is essential to ensuring accuracy, and the approach relies heavily on the military backgrounds of monitoring staff. Therefore, the company claims that its customers receive next to false positives. When the danger is confirmed, they promptly contact the proper security staff and first responders within 3 to 5 seconds, speeding up reaction times and potentially saving lives. They monitor every detection around-the-clock, every day of the year. However, because of the nature of the technology, cyber security becomes of paramount significance in order to ensure that the systems are not only online but protected at all times.

Recently, ZeroEyes announced that it had raised $20.9 million in Series-A funding to develop its business in North America and fulfill the growing demand for its service. This brings the company’s total funding raised to date to $26.1 million. According to ZeroEyes, the most recent cash infusion will help the firm offer best-in-class support and services to its rapidly expanding and well-known clientele while enabling the business expansion, product innovation, hiring, and future growth in North America.
