Bank of New Zealand taps NCR for ATM-as-a-Service solution

Enterprise tech provider NCR Corporation has entered into a “strategic relationship” with the Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) which will see the company power the bank’s ATM fleet via its ‘ATM-as-a-Service’ solution.

The move forms part of the bank’s digital transformation efforts and adds to the longstanding relationship between the firms, with NCR already providing end-to-end ATM support through its Managed Services division.

NCR will now own and operate the bank’s off-site cash machines and run BNZ’s on-premise fleet of NCR SelfServ ATMs, leveraging its digital-first tech platform to provide 24/7 self-service banking for BNZ customers.

BNZ general manager of colleague enablement Nick Grieve says NCR has been “a key part of how we deliver our ATM services to our customers across the country”, and as such the company was “the natural choice to partner for the next phase of our ATM program”.

Last month it was reported that private equity firm Veritas Capital is in talks to acquire NCR after it launched a strategic review process in February that attracted the attention of private equity suitors.

India’s Bank of Baroda also selected NCR’s ATM-as-a-Service solution to modernise its 9,800-strong ATM fleet earlier this year.
