Kevin O’Leary & Grit Daily Head to Startup World Cup, Where Startups Vie for $1M Prize

Can’t wait for Startup World Cup (SWC)? Neither can we.

For the uninitiated, Startup World Cup is one of the biggest startup prizes awarded globally. Naturally, it sparks intense competition among aggressive and enterprising startups, often with promising intellectual property at their backs. Startup World Cup pits startups in competition with each other at satellite events, much like sports teams run a bracket to meet for a final championship.

This year’s Startup World Cup grand finale event – where the winner receives a US$1 million investment prize – takes place on September 30, 2022, in San Francisco, California. It brings together investors, startup founders, and corporate executives who are excited to learn about the innovative technology and business ideas that will be presented.

Silicon Valley venture capital firm Pegasus Tech Ventures organizes the event as a way to reward creative entrepreneurs and connect them with the global innovation ecosystem. Participants will be inspired by well-known speakers including Kevin O’Leary, a successful software entrepreneur who is also a judge on Shark Tank. He’ll share his personal insights about startup success with the SWC audience.

Another well-known speaker is Lidia Fonseca, Chief Digital and Technology Officer of Pfizer. She will share the untold stories of COVID-19 vaccine innovation, during which technology and healthcare experts worked together to find successful solutions. Other confirmed speakers include Github CEO Thomas Dohmke; Zillow Co-Founder Spencer Rascoff; Palo Alto Networks Chairman & CEO Nikesh Arora; and NovaSignal Chairman & CEO Diane Bryant. Grit Daily Founder and Executive Editor Jordan French will be a judge at the competition.

The organizers tell us that tickets are going fast as members of the global startup community gear up to attend the finals. The Startup World Cup is likely to change the lives of those who compete and those who attend. Business and consumers around the world will likely benefit from the creative ideas that materialize as a result of the event.
