The couple also believes in the importance of work-life balance, which can be navigated with BPR.
Work-life balance is an essential part of reducing burnout, which has become far more of a problem in recent years. It is to the point that 77% of Americans say they have experienced burnout, and more than 50% of them say it is not the first time. It shows a clear lack of balance that leads them to the same feeling time after time.
It is a problem seen more often in the younger generations, who struggle the most with work-life balance. Since the pandemic, 41% of Gen Zers have reported that their work-life balance issues have worsened. But it makes sense seeing as business and personal have become “more difficult to separate post-pandemic,” according to Michelle Fox.
Therefore, it is more important than ever for individuals to learn how to navigate work-life balance and find the sweet spot to prevent burnout. And that is precisely where BPR comes in.
According to Dr. Travis Fox, who started his journey into entrepreneurship through motivational speaking and entertainment production, “BPR is a blueprint on how to navigate the work-life balance. Each component of the BPR is business, personal, and relationship.”
There is no perfect percentage or number to magically balance things out. It is more a product of the activities going on in someone’s life at the current time. People find their main focus, then their second and third priorities, and so on, breaking down how much time they are spending on each thing to gain a clear understanding.
Michelle Fox, who got her first taste of entrepreneurship working for a retired Harvard Grad, said that BPR helps entrepreneurs grow their businesses by giving them actual downtime. She said she has seen a lot of entrepreneurs who “have about 80 to 90% of their day focused on business” despite having many activities going on throughout the day.
According to Michelle Fox, those entrepreneurs do not have their focus on those particular moments or experiences, with their minds still focused on work. Because of that, they do not have downtime, even if it looks like they do on paper. Because of that, lifestyle changes can seriously improve entrepreneurship.
The importance of properly dividing time and finding balance is highlighted in working parents, especially working moms who are more likely to feel overwhelmed.
Michelle Fox knows the difficulties of finding time for yourself, being there for your kids, and finishing everything you need to without feeling burnt out. She said it is “important to look at your entire day on an hour-by-hour basis of what you are doing strategically.”
Moreover, it helps with more than reducing burnout. A lack of work-life balance can lead to people ignoring their health and suffering the consequences, something Michelle Fox knows all too well. At one point in her life, she lacked BPR and ignored her own well-being as she devoted herself to relationships and work. Back then, her body suffered for it, and she needed multiple surgeries and nearly died. It was only when she made drastic changes and found a balance that things improved.
