If you still haven’t heard about the latest development in the field of conversational AI, let us introduce you to ChatGPT, the newest release from OpenAI. This large language model is available for everyone to use for a limited time. It has been creating a buzz on social media for its engaging, sometimes humorous, and occasionally dark responses to user queries. People all over the globe are having fun interacting with ChatGPT and trying to push its boundaries. So what is ChatGPT, and what makes it different from other conversational AI systems?
“ChatGPT is a chatbot powered by the GPT-3 language model. It is a conversational AI system that can engage in natural language conversations with users. ChatGPT is trained on a wide range of topics and can assist with a variety of tasks, from answering questions to providing information and even generating creative content. It is designed to be friendly and helpful and can adapt to different conversational styles and contexts. With ChatGPT, you can have engaging and informative conversations on a wide range of topics, from the latest news and current events to hobbies and personal interests. Whether you’re looking for a casual conversation partner or a knowledgeable source of information, ChatGPT is here to help.”

Can you believe it? An AI generates the introduction mentioned above for itself. Isn’t it fascinating?
So what makes it all possible?
GPT-3 language model is the backbone of ChatGPT. GPT-3 is a state-of-the-art natural language processing (NLP) model developed by OpenAI. The GPT-3 model uses a deep learning technique called transformer architecture to process and generate text, which allows it to handle a wide range of language tasks with high accuracy and fluency. A large amount of text data on the internet is crucial for training such a large language model on a wide range of topics. Without access to this data, it would be difficult, if not impossible, to train a model capable of handling the diversity and complexity of human language.
OpenAI claimed the model is capable of helping in debugging codes, writing creative content, answer follow-up questions. ChatGPT can have a very vast domain for its usage, some of them can be:
- Providing information and answering questions: ChatGPT can be used as a knowledge source, providing answers to user questions on various topics. This could be useful for everything from casual conversations to research and study.
- Generating creative content: ChatGPT can be used to generate text based on user prompts, which could be useful for creative writing or other text-based tasks. An example can be to generate a prompt for text-based image generation for midjourney or DALLE-2.
- Personal assistant: ChatGPT could be used as a personal assistant, helping users with tasks such as scheduling and organization.
- Customer service: ChatGPT could assist with customer service, providing answers to common questions and helping to resolve issues.
- Gaming: ChatGPT could be integrated into games, providing interesting and engaging dialogue for players.
ChatGPT is also capable of cracking jokes and carrying out humorous conversations. That’s one reason why ChatGPT is so popular. People are also having fun testing the heights of its creativity and their own creativity. Researchers are trying to get around the content filter that stops ChatGPT from commenting on any person, organization, or situation. The content filter is not foolproof, so researchers are trying to find a way around it.
As fun and versatile as ChatGPT is, it’s important to remember that it’s not perfect. Like all AI systems, ChatGPT has limitations and can’t provide every possible answer to every possible question. For instance, when I asked for a joke about politics, it gave me a response from the internet that was not original and unrelated to politics. But it also accepted its mistake of deviating from the prompt. And while it’s not easy to bypass ChatGPT’s filters, it’s not impossible either. When I asked it directly about the flaws in the current education system, it refused to answer the question. However, if I rephrased the query slightly, it provided a thoughtful response.
But one of the most impressive things about ChatGPT is its ability to recognize and correct mistakes. I had a lot of fun using it and was amazed at how creative you can get with this chatbot. In fact, I even used it to write part of this blog post! So while ChatGPT has its limitations, it’s still a fantastic tool for engaging in natural language conversations and exploring the potential of AI.
