Earth Ether, a project that promotes eco-friendly cryptocurrency by providing a decentralized staking protocol, is commemorating Earth Day with the release of their latest short film Touch Grass. This visually stunning film was produced in partnership with AGT All-Star Caly Bevier and Web3 artists, and documents the introspective and awe-inspiring journey of a group scaling Mount Ijen in Bali.
The purpose of the film is to show that despite technology causing more disconnection, nature, and art have the power to restore balance to the Earth and our lives. The group of “Eartheans” who embark on the journey share their experiences of living in a fast-paced world and how technology, knowledge, money, data, health, and freedoms have drastically transformed, causing them to forget the beauty and simplicity that our planet and lives can offer.
The film’s objective is to showcase that empowering the right artists and creators with the right tools and authority to create for a cause greater than themselves is essential to restoring balance to our digital lives. It highlights that anyone, anywhere can make money while simultaneously aiding the Earth, and that we should devise incentives for technology to aid in healing the collective.
ReFi, or “Regenerative Finance,” refers to this effort to strip the culture of price speculation and gambling, and replace it with “Regens” (counter to “Degens”), or those who care about doing good for the world.
To celebrate Earth Day this April 22, the team behind Earth Ether is offering an opportunity to participate in the next Touch Grass Retreat by staking ETH for EARTH, a recently developed decentralized Ethereum staking protocol. By delegating a portion of Ethereum block rewards toward technologies and infrastructure aimed at healing the planet, this protocol aims to grow the Regenerative Finance movement.
“We live in a rapidly evolving world. Our modern-day existence is now characterized by convenience; a compromise that comes at a cost. In the age of mass digitization, our connection to the Earth and our intuition are under threat. Our rivers are full of plastic, our bodies are full of stress, and our minds are full of lies told to prolong servitude to a system that no longer serves us. It’s time to regenerate a new set of values for the Earth and get out of the matrix. We must prioritize our health over our wealth, and our freedom over our safety. The days of centralized governance are behind us. Instead, we propose a new system, governed by the community, and conscious of the Earth. It’s time to take back control of our money. It’s time to touch grass. It’s time to plant forests of freedom, and it’s time to sow seeds of sovereignty. Earth Ether is our solution. It’s time to stake your ETH for the Earth,” said Sukhveer Sanghera, founder of Earth Ether.
This inspiring and visually stunning film serves as a call to action, empowering us to make positive changes for the planet. Its powerful message makes it a must-watch for anyone who wants to help create a better future for our planet, and the team hopes to have it screened at film festivals.
The film will be released on Saturday, April 22. Watch it here.
