The layoffs are affecting more than 25,900 jobs, according to the California Employment Development Department (EDD). This trend seems to be accelerating; the job cuts announced in just over six months of 2023 nearing 15,500, already outpacing the total layoffs of 10,400 reported for the whole of 2022.
