Advantech to embed Cogniteam’s platform into its AMRs

Cogniteam, which makes cloud robotic platforms, announced that its technology will now be embedded in all of Advantech’s autonomous mobile robot (AMR) S100 units. 

This collaboration brings together out of the box cloud-connectivity with NVIDIA’s powerful Jetson chipset. It also enables teams to work remotely without sacrificing the capabilities needed to have robots complete their assigned tasks. 

Robotic development can be tedious, with hardware and software teams developing their projects in tandem. This can lead to a lack of capability or miscommunication regarding desired functionality, holding teams back from moving past early development stages. This inefficiency translates into a costly and time-consuming process, which can act as a barrier to innovation. 

Cogniteam is hoping to address these challenges by offering field-proven software components. These include NVIDIA JETSON ISAAC SDK GEMs, which can be dragged and dropped into a robot’s virtual simulation environment, streamlining development and cutting resource demands by up to 60%.

Now that ROS & Cogniteam are side by side, embedded upon a NVIDIA Jetson ONYX Chipset, companies are deploying tomorrow’s robots, today.”

Cogniteam’s cloud platform functionality will be pre-installed along with ROS. This allows limited teams to be on par with larger organizations when developing critical features for their robots, like cloud connectivity, spatial awareness, and Over The Air (OTA) updates. 

Embedding Cogniteam’s technology within Advantech’s existing technologies opens doors to a large cloud-connected hub and allows robots to remain in the field longer without needing to be called back to a technician for software updates. 

In the future, Cogniteam intends to include advanced capabilities, like emerging human-robot interaction tools. These capabilities will first be proved within the HRI consortium that Cogniteam participates in. 

Earlier this year, Advantech partnered with MOV.AI. The companies plan to streamline the creation of AMRs by providing robot manufacturers and integrators access to cutting-edge industrial computing technology and a powerful software platform for building, deploying, and running intelligent robots.
