Miami Art Week: Shiseido’s “Future Reflections” Fuses Digital Artistry with Skincare Innovation

A pinnacle stomping ground for art lovers, on-premise art enthusiasts, and collectors at Art Week in the Magic City of Miami will be the first to witness Shiseido’s embracement of ultra-modernism through the launch of its code-based art collection.

Access to art has always been limited to a subset of the population until the advent of generative art, an area that’s continuing to grow and show sophistication and also just happens to be gaining the backing of long-standing brands like Shiseido. Today, for the first time in Shiseido’s 150-year history, the brand launched a generative art collection in the Magic City of Miami during ArtWeek.

Enthusiasts can collect pieces from the “Future Reflections” collection at no cost, democratizing access to NFT generative works for art lovers. Additionally, 20 select works will unlock unique utilities that include Shiseido’s Future Solution LX, the most coveted and best-selling product.

Future Reflections

It’s no surprise the brand has immersed itself in the arena of generative art, considering Shiseido has a deep history rooted in art. “For over 150 years, Shiseido has cultivated and supported art in all its forms,” says Alessio Rossi, Executive Vice President of US Marketing at Shiseido.

Unveiled during Miami Art Week at the NFT Now’s “The Gateway” Event, from December 6 to December 8, 2023, “Future Reflections” offers an exclusive platform for enthusiasts and collectors to delve into the world of web3 technology at one of the most celebrated art events. This exclusive event will provide enthusiasts and collectors a unique opportunity to explore Future Reflections, engage with artists, and witness the limitless possibilities of web3 technology during one of the most celebrated art events of the year.

The collection encompasses 1,872 unique generative artworks, reflecting the brand’s founding year. “Future Reflections” reimagines the possibilities of science, technology, and the infinite power of beauty, offering extraordinary value and uniqueness to collectors and recipients.

Shiseido’s quest for high quality and performance, whether through nutrient-rich ingredients or algorithmically guided generative art, reflects its commitment to excellence and digital innovation.

Generative Artists and Art Blocks Engine

Powered by the Art Blocks Engine, this project involves esteemed artists Hannah Yan, Jen Stark, Kaoru Tanaka, and Robert Hodgin. Their work, inspired by Shiseido’s dedication to art and science, and key ingredients from the Future Solution LX collection, aims to visually express the brand’s essence of refinement and commitment to innovation.

The collaboration results in one-of-a-kind creations, blending generative technology with artistic innovation and inviting enthusiasts into a world of unparalleled digital artistry.

“Our partnership with these artists and Art Blocks Engine is a testament to our rich heritage and our commitment to the evolving intersection of beauty and technology,” adds Mr. Rossi.

Echoing this sentiment, Erick Calderon, CEO of Art Blocks, remarks on the collaboration: “Our work with Shiseido on ‘Future Reflections’ is a milestone in how brands can embrace generative art, connecting customers to a broader community and exemplifying our shared commitment to digital innovation.”
