SOS Secures $3.4 mln to Facilitate Access to Health and Wellness Products On-the-Go

SOS, a female-founded wellness startup based in Boston, has raised $3.4 million in funding to support women by meeting their daily health needs.

The round was led by For Later LLC, with participation from the Khan family, owners of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Fulham F.C.; Jerod Mayo, a New England Patriots coach and former player; Ju Rhyu, founder and CEO of Hero Cosmetics; and several leading executives and founders across different industries.

The funding will allow SOS to expand its presence with 40 new SOS machines in two of the Florida Panthers’ locations. Shawn Thornton, Panthers Chief Commercial Officer, said about this expansion:

“We’re proud to partner with SOS to meet the wellness and personal needs of our staff, fans, and the South Florida community. We hope the SOS smart machines give patrons peace of mind knowing they can easily access these wellness products while enjoying concerts, games. or events at FLA Live Arena.”

Founded back in 2017 by Susanna Twarog and Robina Verbeek as they realized the hardships that finding quality health and wellness products at the office entailed, the startup has been developing stylish IoT-enable vending machines that deliver essential personal care and beauty products to people on the go. By doing so, the startup is looking to make out-of-stip tampon machines and improve the quality of life of millions of women in the process. Verbeek said in this regard:

“Our machines transform a moment of panic into a moment of empowerment and choice. We believe that convenient access must be paired with exceptional products and an elevated retail experience. ‘Quick and easy’ shouldn’t mean ‘cheap and shoddy,’ especially when it comes to women’s health. Everyone deserves better.”

Having been selected to join the stars Boston Accelerator and being named one of the Top 20 Emerging Brands in Retail by ICSC, the startup has experienced rapid growth ever since the deployment of its first installation back in 2020. Now, with 5 design patents across the United States, Canada, Europe, and China, SOS is poised to sustain this growth as one of the leading companies in the market.
