Andrew Tate’s 15 Minutes of Fame Might Be at Its End As Social Media Cracks Down

Anyone on social media this year has probably seen clips of Andrew Tate. The man became a viral sensation with a massive social media presence, much through his own marketing as part of Huster’s University. It has not only earned him a massive following, but he has received the nickname “King of Toxic Masculinity.”

The former kickboxing champion earned a majority of his viral fame from his controversial and misogynistic takes. While some of his takes are cartoonish, such as him saying that women can’t drive, he has also uttered more extreme statements. One of the statements Tate is most known for making includes, “If you put yourself in a position to be raped, you must bare some responsibility.”

But the things Tate says are not the only problem. He gained notoriety in 2016 when he was evicted from the 17th season of Big Brother UK after a video of him surfaced. The video depicted what appeared to be Tate beating a woman with a belt. While he told a different story than the one depicted, his eviction stood.

Andrew Tate also started a business with his brother, Tristan, where they used webcam models to scam men out of money. The business revolved around women coercing desperate men out of money using fake stories, bringing in a large amount of money for the brothers.

At one point, Tate talked about personally being involved in scamming people out of their money by typing messages for the models. Andrew Tate and his brother have even openly admitted the truth about the business, with Tristan saying in an interview that the business was a “big scam to sell sob stories to desperate men.”

However, the truly shocking news came in April 2022, when Tate’s home in Romania was raided by the police.

The raid took place after reports that an American woman was being held against her will at Tate’s residence. When police arrived, they found an American woman as well as Romanian women. Afterward, the investigation escalated to include “crimes of human trafficking and rape.”

Andrew Tate is now facing further trouble as his influencer identity faces obstruction from major platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok.

Meta, the parent company behind Facebook and Instagram has stepped out to confirm the banning of Tate’s accounts on its platforms. The ban comes due to his use of hate speech and policies against dangerous individuals and organizations. The action is a big hit to Tate, whose numbers soared to 4.7 million followers on Instagram prior to the ban.

Additionally, TikTok reported banning Tate as well. Though, the platform has mentioned that many of the videos posted about him come from fans. The company is doing its best to continue removing videos and accounts that violate its policies and spread misogyny.

The Twitter ban came previously for his remark about women bearing responsibility for sexual assault.

Andrew Tate cares little about what people think of him or his actions, as evidenced by his own admissions. However, despite his thoughts on the matter, things are piling up on the viral star. As it stands now, his 15 minutes of fame might be coming to a devastating end.
