Arab Jordan Investment Bank (AJIB) has partnered with Codebase Technologies to enable digital onboarding for resident and non-resident Jordanians.
According to AJIB, Jordan has a high rate of financial literacy and smartphone penetration but only 43% of Jordanians have a bank account. The deployment of Codebase’s Digibanc platform is designed to plug this gap, making it easier for Jordanians to open a bank account and access financial services.
The platform will incorporate know your customer (KYC), ID scanning and customer liveness checks and integrates with AJIB’s existing mobile banking app and core banking system, as well as Jordan’s national identity database.
The firm says the Digibanc platform’s microservices-based architecture will act as a “technology foundation” that will support future digital-first solutions and boost its go-to-market speed.
AJIB’s assistant deputy general manager of IT, Ayman Qadoumi, says: “Digital onboarding is critical to modern banking, and the ease of access it provides for customers addresses the acquisition challenge many banks face and broadens banking access for the underserved and unbanked.”
