Bank of Baroda taps enterprise tech provider NCR for ATM-as-a-Service solution

India’s Bank of Baroda has selected NCR Corporation’s ATM-as-a-Service (ATMaaS) solution to modernise its 9,800-strong ATM fleet.

The upgrade will see Bank of Baroda transfer management of its ATMs to NCR, with the US firm handling compliance, security and software updates.

Established in 1908, Bank of Baroda has 140 million customers in 19 countries and boasts more than $163 billion worth of assets.

NCR Corporation president and general manager of banking Frank Hauck says his firm’s ATMaaS tech is an effective way for the bank to “keep up with evolving consumer expectations and quickly deliver the latest innovations”.

The firm claims the ATMs will be online more often and break down less often, therefore boosting customer access.

Bank of Baroda’s chief digital officer Akhil Handa says that by outsourcing the management of the bank’s ATMs, “we’ll be able to offer a more modern experience and expanded transaction options via our self-service channel”.

“At the same time, our staff will have more time to focus on our core strengths and growth-focused initiatives,” Handa adds.

NCR is a global enterprise technology provider headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia and provides end-to-end infrastructure to run stores, restaurants and self-directed banking.
