Embedded banking solutions provider BankiFi has appointed Danny Piangerelli as its new chief technology officer (CTO).
In his new role, Piangerelli will oversee all aspects of technology including engineering, architecture and infrastructure for the firm.
He will also support the firm’s product evolution in North America, a region BankiFi is aiming to boost its expansion into, fuelled by a $4.8 million fundraise last month.
Piangerelli joins BankiFi armed with more than 25 years of experience in software engineering. He has held a number of senior leadership roles, including CTO of Malauzai Software, which he co-founded in 2010 until its acquisition by Finastra in 2018. He then served as chief architect of Finastra’s North American community markets business before becoming CTO at Sensibill and a board advisor at ZSuite.
Speaking on his appointment, Piangerelli says he was “drawn to BankiFi’s approach”, which he describes as “disrupting the disrupters”.
Headquartered in Ohio, with offices in Manchester, Sydney and Antwerp, BankiFi’s platform enables financial institutions to provide services including accounting, invoicing and payments for SMB and trade customers. It aims to help over two million SMEs across the world by 2024.
