Baobab Studios Takes World Class Storytelling into the Metaverse with Momoguro

Baobab Studios, the acclaimed nine-time Emmy award-winning animation and virtual reality studio, has unveiled Momoguro, its newest venture into the world of web3 technology. Momoguro is a collectibles and story-driven game where players collect creatures with unique powers and fuse their collectibles with creatures, called Momos, to gain their abilities and become ultra powerful Momobeasts. Players can also go on quests to unlock clues, discover secrets, and unite with Momos to defend the world from the self-serving forces seeking to divide it.

The newest franchise out of Baobab is an exciting and ambitious venture that puts the community at the center of game play with a story centered on coming together in divisive times.

“In an increasingly divisive world, we believe in Momoguro’s message that supports community,” says Baobab Studios CEO and Co-Founder Maureen Fan. “Digital collectibles allow a community to get in on the ground floor in the creation of a new universe. By empowering players to be a part of the game’s story, we hope Momoguro encourages us to believe that we are stronger together.”

The company is partnered with Web3 technology firm ImmutableX, which scales blockchain games for mainstream consumers. Together, they are bringing the latest web3 gaming technology to player experiences by unlocking “a new universe of creative play for the community.”

Momoguro is a unique and colorful digital collectible collection that stays true to Baobab’s mission to inspire the world to dream, bring a sense of wonder and make the audience matter through storytelling.

Diversity and inclusion are also big themes of Momoguro, with its creators Nico Casavecchia and Martin Allias tapping into their multicultural and hispanic backgrounds for influences throughout the storyline.

Momoguro was a recent inspiration for art night at the NFT Boutique, an IRL (in real life) center of creativity and community onboarding for all things web3 in Tulum.

The night featured a boutique takeover with Momoguro art on each display, a watercolor painting lesson, and a sneak peak of Momoguro’s official teaser.

The outcome was fun and inspired fan artwork.

Check out some of the cool fan art we created below for what’s sure to be a hugely successful franchise transcending web3 as a multi-sensory story that will have its own animated feature, books, and much more.
