Christian Piccardi joins Mox as CIO, and David Walker assumes the new CDSIO role.

Piccardi is a technology veteran with over 25 years of experience. He joins from ING Bank Austria, where he spent six years, the last four as CIO.

Walker joined Mox in January 2020 as chief information security officer (CISO) and later took on the role of interim CIO.

Last year, Mox saw the arrival of a new chief executive, Barbaros Uygun, who also moved from ING Bank Austria, where he was CEO.

Hong Kong-based Mox is the brainchild of Standard Chartered, launched in September 2020. It was created in partnership with Hong Kong Telecoms and Chinese travel agency Trip.com.

Thought Machine provides Mox’s core banking system. It’s also using payments processor Paymentology and Oracle’s Netsuite and is working with FICO to build out its credit business.

Since the launch of Mox, Standard Chartered has announced its plans to create a digital banking start-up in Singapore and committed $107 million to the initiative.
