Data from Statista indicates that total investments worldwide in the industry rose from around £7 billion in 2010 to a high of £172 billion in 2019.

In the UK, the picture is equally robust. As a global fintech hub, activity is extremely strong, with more than £3.2 billion in venture capital transactions and 1,565 active fintech firms, including Freetrade, Revolut, Nexo and Azimo.

With a 136% year-on-year rise in the number of jobs in the sector, a few roles have emerged as the most in demand, and they are:

  1. Product management (IT)
  2. Software engineering
  3. UI and UX design/ development
  4. DevOps
  5. Information security
  6. Customer success
  7. Business analysis

If you’re working in any of these areas, it could be a good time to make a move – in particular, one in five jobs in fintech are for software engineers.

We’re highlighting three companies below which have some open positions in these areas – and for plenty more job opportunities, check out our Job Board.
