The CR20A high payload collaborative robot from Dobot Robotics was unveiled at the Hannover Messe industrial trade event in Germany. The robot’s performance, 53.6 lb (20-kilogram) payload capacity, 66.9” (1700-millimeter) super wide working radius, and 0.004” (0.1-millimeter) repeatability make it well-suited for tasks such as heavy load handling, packaging, and palletizing, as well as for cutting large-sized workpieces and long-seam welding in difficult environments.
The CR20A’s residual vibration is cut in half at slow speeds thanks to the next-gen technology architecture and cutting-edge dynamic algorithms developed by Dobot. The robot’s improved dependability considerably boosts manufacturing productivity under extreme conditions. The CR20A can stack up to 7 items per minute when used for palletizing, and it’s compatible with the vast majority of European, American, and standard-sized pallets with a maximum pallet dimension of 48” (1219 mm).
Dobot’s specialized process package software is used for welding, palletizing, and other labor-intensive processes. Small-batch and versatile production needs can be met with the CR20A and these process packages thanks to their easy configuration and deployment.
The robot’s innovative electromagnetic brake protection mechanism immediately engages in the event of a power interruption, stopping the end tool from falling and assuring no displacement during start-up and shut-down, ensuring safe robot operation.
Process modifications can affect the robot’s load in production. To avoid problems caused by significant load deviations, the CR20A has a load auto-detection function.
The CR20A includes an innovative dual-end effector connector design, allowing it to connect directly to multiple end effectors and be used with a wide range of third-party accessories. This feature also avoids the problem of complex cable deployment that may hinder robot motion. The CR20A supports Ethernet/IP and Profinet communication, seamlessly connects with other automation systems via PLC, and has 24 channels of universal IO ports that support PNP/NPN switching, providing customers with a smooth automation experience.
In industries such as automotive, home appliances, and logistics, many production processes such as handling, assembly, and palletizing involve workpieces that weigh more than 26.8 lbs (10 kg). The Dobot CR20A represents the latest generation of higher payload cobots that now offer an option to traditional industrial robots.
With the introduction of the CR20A high payload robot, Dobot has reached yet another important milestone in the development of its product line. This launch forms a comprehensive product matrix that includes payloads ranging from 1.3 lb (0.5 kg) to 53.6 lb (20 kg) in order to accommodate a larger variety of application scenarios.
