The Envato Foundation has pledged to match donations up to a total of $25,000 as part of Smiling Mind’s annual giving campaign.
Smiling Mind is a non-for-profit app-based meditation program developed by psychologists and educators to help make mindfulness and mental health support more accessible for Australians of all ages.
The Envato Foundation had previously partnered with Smiling Mind in September 2020 to help expand its targeted mental health programs being delivered alongside the Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Women’s Council (NPYWC).
Envato Foundation Board chair Briany Kalms said they’re proud to once again partner again with Smiling Mind, after the success of our recent project with them in partnership with NPYWC.
“Our support helped Smiling Mind develop 5 new meditations for their mindfulness app, all developed in the first language of the communities NPYWC represents,” she said.
“We’re thankful for another opportunity to support the work Smiling Mind is doing, not only for Indigenous communities, but for the mental health of Australians everywhere.”
Smiling Mind CEO Addie Wootten said they’d seen a huge rise in users of their app and the programs, which are all offered for free.
“Australia’s kids and young people have been hit particularly hard by the social isolation that’s come with the past couple of years,” she said.
“We are able to keep them free thanks to partners like Envato supporting our programs and campaigns.”
2021 was a busy year for the Envato Foundation, which added three new partners Bond University, Enrise and Story Factory as part of its focus on social impact support. The Foundation has now committed $1.7 million in funding across six years to all of its partners.
