Fleet Space Technologies promotes Chloe Leclerc to chief marketing officer

Adelaide-based Fleet Space Technologies has appointed its former head of marketing, Chloe Leclerc, as its new chief marketing officer (CMO).

She’s been charged with building Fleet’s go-to-market strategy and presence in Australia and North America, with a focus on its satellite-based solution for minerals exploration.

Fleet designs, builds, and operates small satellites which deliver universal connectivity. The team has now passed 80 employees in the last six months, following a $36 million Series B in 2021, that sees the business building a constellation of 288 satellites.

The spacetech startup has also launched ExoSphere, for the mineral exploration industry to provide lightning-fast, highly scalable 3D mapping solutions to pinpoint minerals and increase accuracy in drilling targets.

This is already helping the world transition to clean-air mobility technologies by creating a faster, more sustainable, and less expensive route to finding critical mineral deposits.

Leclerc said she always wanted to do something that has impact, and working at Fleet provides her with that opportunity.

“As a company committed to tackling one of the world’s most pressing challenges, the energy transition, Fleet is contributing to a global shift towards sustainable energy solutions,” she said.

“Space is all about people and their shared passion and inspiration. I’ve shaped my leadership approach based on the leaders I’ve been inspired by in my career. I believe in leading by example and giving people the freedom, support and guidance they need to foster their creativity and innovation.”

CEO Flavia Tata Nardini said Leclerc has already made an immense contribution to Fleet Space.

“The challenges facing the space and mining industries require a diverse range of skills and expertise: Chloe’s exceptional breadth of knowledge and experience, together with her international outlook and connections, make her an incredibly valuable addition to our senior leadership team,” she said.

“She’s also a fantastic role model for women in the space sector, with a real desire to encourage and support women in the industry. We’re very much looking forward to working with her in her new role.”

Leclerc previously worked as Marketing & Strategy Manager at AIRBUS in Beijing and France and as Head of Marketing at Telespazio France, and was recognised as a finalist for Aviation/Aerospace Australia’s ‘Outstanding Next Generation Professional’ in 2022.
