Get an inside look at Waymo’s AV development at RoboBusiness

Waymo is one of the world’s leading developers of autonomous driving technology, with public robotaxi services up and running in Phoenix and San Francisco. Just last month, Waymo began giving fully driverless, autonomous robotaxi rides in downtown Pheonix to its trusted tester program members. The self-driving vehicle technology unit of Google, Waymo has more than 700 vehicles in its fleet, which is made up of a mix of Jaguar I-Pace EVs, Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivans and Class 8 trucks.

The company’s Class 8 Trucks began testing with UPS in Texas in late 2021. The trucks are outfitted with Waymo’s fifth-generation autonomous driving system. During the six-week pilot program, Waymo’s trucks shipped freight between UPS facilities in Dallas-Forth Worth and Houston.

During RoboBusiness, which runs Oct. 19-20 in Santa Clara, Calif., Waymo Technical Lead & Manager Allison Thackston will give an inside look at the major technical challenges involved with developing autonomous vehicles. She will also provide updates on recent deployments and what the future holds for autonomous vehicles in her keynote called “Developing Autonomous Vehicles” on Oct. 19 from 9:30-10:15 AM.
