As the adage goes, “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” Considering the fact that 61% of U.S. workers are considering leaving their jobs in 2023, you may wonder if the notion is more of an ideal than a real possibility. But it can be a reality, or so proves Ben Burton, who turned a childhood love of vehicles and motorsports into a unique car club business model by way of a successful career in the healthcare sector. How? Find out below.
How It Began
As a child, Burton had a huge passion for cars and, specifically, Formula 1 racing. It was a passion he carried with him even when life took him on a different path. When he was 15, he began clay target shooting, otherwise known as sporting clays. He states, “I made the British shooting team as a senior when I was a junior and was then on the professional tour for about 20 years, during which time I was a two-time world champion.”
After that, Burton began selling healthcare products with a network marketing company and built a team of about 10,000 people. That experience introduced him to the healthcare sector and gave him a foothold in healthcare spaces and ancillaries. From there, he developed a network of over 700 primary care providers in Texas and started his own healthcare business, Legent Healthcare, by acquiring one hospital. They currently have 15 locations under the PSN Affiliates umbrella, which Burton joined as Chief Development Officer in 2018. He is also a founding partner of Medical Facilities Holdings (MFH), a leading real estate development company specializing in the healthcare sector.
A Different Entrepreneurial Journey
There are some common reasons why a person in the middle of their career might change paths, from wanting more money or recognition to looking for advancement to wanting less stress and more flexibility. For Burton, however, it was about pursuing a new challenge in an area he remained passionate about: cars. He explains, “I saw a need in Texas and, frankly, nationally and globally with people like myself who have a car collection and want to ensure it is serviced well. But also, that the collection is shown and showcased and brings together like-minded people with a sort of membership — like a country club but with a specific shared passion in mind.”
Burton continues, “Plus, I wanted to have a storage and service facility to really enjoy my own cars, and the idea of Prestige Motorsports was born. My business partner and I have worked with our team to make this vision come to life in San Antonio and seek to create more Prestige businesses around the country and the globe.”
With Burton’s entrepreneurial business experience put behind the endeavor, Prestige Motorsports became a reality and recently opened in the heart of San Antonio’s automotive aficionado community. As the premier destination for discerning enthusiasts, the luxury car club offers an exclusive blend of opulent experiences, curated vehicles, and a vibrant camaraderie that sets the standard in the San Antonio area. A Lifestyle of Luxury
Burton says, “Prestige Motorsports is more than a club – it’s a lifestyle.” That’s why its membership tiers also grant exclusive access to luxury lifestyle experiences, from exotic getaways to thrilling adventures.
It’s all part of the unique set of lifestyle brands ranging from vacation experiences with Edward Anthony Luxury Estates to a vineyard in Napa, Chateau De Vi, to, of course, Prestige Motorsports, all under the umbrella of B.E. Enterprises, LLC, of which Burton and his business partner founded.
Although his career path has veered in different directions, it’s those experiences, and a strong work ethic, determination, and drive, that have culminated in the realization of Burton’s ultimate passion: creating a place where people who love cars can enjoy them together, that he can ultimately scale across the United States and the globe. Because of that, his days certainly don’t seem like work anymore.
