IBM has acquired Envizi, which is a leading data and analytics software provider for environmental performance management. The new acquisition is yet another investment by IBM in AI-powered software aimed at sustainable operations and supply chains.
Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Sustainability Reporting Frameworks
Envizi’s software can automate the collection and consolidation of over 500 data types while supporting major sustainability reporting frameworks. The customizable dashboards allow companies to analyze, manage, and report on environmental goals. They can also identify efficiency opportunities and assess sustainability risk.
Through Envizi’s solutions, companies are able to streamline the management of such tasks while providing users with insights that can help their business strategy.
Integrating With IBM Solutions
Envizi can be used alongside IBM’s broader AI-powered software to automate the feedback generated between companies’ corporate environmental initiative and operational endpoints used in daily business operations. This process enables sustainability efforts to be more scalable.
Envizi will integrate with solutions like IBM Maximo asset management solutions, IBM Sterling supply chain solutions, IBM Environmental Intelligence Suite (EIS), and IBM Turbonomic and Red Hat OpenShift Capabilities.
Kareem Yusuf, PhD, is General Manager at IBM AI Applications.
“To drive real progress toward sustainability, companies need the ability to transform data into predictive insights that help them make more intelligent, actionable decisions every day,” said Yusuf. “Envizi’s software provides companies with a single source of truth for analyzing and understanding emissions data across the full landscape of their business operations and dramatically accelerates IBM’s growing arsenal of AI technologies for helping businesses create more sustainable operations and supply chains.”
Envizi is available as a SaaS solution and runs in multi-cloud environments. It is used by companies like Microsoft, Qantas, Uber, Celestics, and CBRE.
David Solsky is CEO and Co-Founder of Envizi.
“As a leader and innovator in AI for business, IBM has decades of experience helping organizations around the world harness the power of their data and act on it,” said Solsky. “IBM’s global reach, depth of resources and breadth of expertise will help us to scale at an unprecedented pace. As part of IBM, we feel more confident than ever that we can achieve our goal of providing clients and partners with the world class tools they need to reduce their operational impacts and optimize for the low carbon future.”
The new acquisition comes as IBM continues to improve its operational efficiencies, manage energy consumption, and reduce GHG emissions, all of which are part of the company’s commitment to reach net zero GHG emissions by 2030.
