Indian crypto firm CoinDCX has hired Gaurav Arora as senior vice president, CoinDCX Pro to lead the company’s DeFi initiatives, with a focus on new and developing cryptocurrency and blockchain technology use cases.
Arora has worked for over a decade building fintech super-apps. In his earlier stint as director of products at Amazon Pay India, he was responsible for launching and scaling digital payments across many categories such as bill payments, money transfers, financial service payments and movie ticketing. He also helped launch the Amazon Pay wallet product in India.
An Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee graduate with an MBA in finance from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Arora also brings with him trading expertise from his days as an equities trader at Nomura Securities, Hong Kong.
Commenting on his appointment, Arora says: “The world of Web3 and DeFi is in its nascent stages and largely inaccessible by most people due to its complexities. We believe that over the next few years, hundreds of millions of users will be interacting with the decentralised blockchain ecosystem.
“Our goal is to provide a bridge for these customers to access the opportunities safely and easily in this system.”
CoinDCX says it intends to strengthen its talent pool and is hiring across functions as it continues to build products and services for its users.
The Mumbai-based firm last raised $135 million in a Series D funding round held in April 2022, at a valuation of over $2 billion.
