Investment platform Superhero rehires an OG marketer as its head of strategy

Share trading and superannuation fintech Superhero has rehired on its first employees, Rachel Hopping, as its first head of strategy.

She comes to the business after a brief stint at Fintech Australia as head of strategic partnerships and will lead overall business strategy, reporting to CEO and cofounder John Winters. She joins the executive leadership team.

Superhero was founded in 2018 by Winters and CTO Wayne Baskin. Its ASX trading platform went live in September 2020 and now has more than 230,000 customers. The fintech’s superannuation product launched in mid-2021.

Hopping was Superhero’s 12th hire, signing on after three years at eBay Australia, and worked there for two years, initially in marketing hire before moving to strategic partnerships in early 2022.

Winters said she spearheaded major marketing campaigns and was instrumental in establishing strong relationships with important partners.

“We are delighted to have Rachel rejoin Superhero as our first head of strategy. Her deep experience and passion in fintech as well as in building and nurturing relationships with partners will be priceless as Superhero continues to grow in 2023 and beyond,” he said.

“As Superhero enters this new phase of growth and our focus shifts to exploring strategic partnerships with other financial services companies, Rachel is the perfect person to drive our business strategy forward.”

Hopping said the business has grown and evolved over the last 2.5 years.

“There’s a lot of opportunity to really transform how Australians engage with their investments and superannuation, and I can’t wait to get stuck in,” she said.
