Kwasi Asare, Founder and CEO of Feedia, Appointed to VCDC Board of Directors

Kwasi Asare, the founder and CEO of FEEDIA, has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Village Communities Development Center (VCDC), Ghana and US-based non-profit organization dedicated to helping children, at-risk adolescents and adults in rural Ghana.

Asare, whose past experiences include being the co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer of ESAIYO and involvement in Fast Company’s Executive Board, brings over two decades of experience to this new role.

Marked by achievements in content marketing, eCommerce, and technology innovation, Asare is committed to driving positive change. With a strong educational foundation from the University of Pennsylvania and deep roots in his Ghanaian-American heritage, his appointment is expected to usher the VCDC forward.

The VCDC’s Mission and Collaborative Efforts

The VCDC is a registered non-profit organization with a deep commitment to uplifting rural communities in Ghana. Its primary mission is to provide access to quality education, healthcare, and developmental support for children, at-risk adolescents, and adults in these areas.

Aside from providing educational support, healthcare services, and everyday essentials, the VCDC also partners with others. One notable collaboration that Asare engineered focused on combating period poverty in partnership with CouldYou?, an NGO focused on menstrual health, and the leading creative arts agency, World Artists United, led by Jalen James Acosta and Rachel Karry.

The partnership has led to the distribution of 3,000 menstrual cups to women and girls across rural Ghana, addressing a critical barrier to education for many young girls.

Through these concerted efforts, the VCDC is not only enhancing the educational landscape but also contributing to the holistic development of rural communities in Ghana. As Kwasi Asare joins the Board of Directors, his extensive experience and vision are expected to further amplify the organization’s impact, driving forward its mission of community upliftment and sustainable development.

The VCDC’s Roadmap for the Future

While the VCDC’s past projects speak volumes, the next year is crucial. Recently, Asare commented on the organization’s roadmap for the future, saying, “The primary goal for the next 12 months will be to fund the launch of a community center with a STEM education focus. Looking farther ahead, the aim is to improve the quality of life of people of rural Ghana on a sustainable basis.”

“Rural Africa is the world’s next bread basket and innovation lab. VCDC is focused on optimizing Ghanaians’ access to technology and sustainable quality of life enhancements,” remarked Asare when discussing the opportunities offered by the role both now and in the future.

Asare’s Appointment to the Board of Directors

Asare is a graduate of The University of Pennsylvania and son of Ghanaian-American immigrants. For more than two decades, he has been involved in philanthropy and social impact. It is his work in those sectors, as well as marketing technology, and business development that drove his appointment.

Specifically, Kwasi’s work envisioning and implementing growth, marketing, and business development strategies across the planet for nonprofit and for-profit companies causes him to stand out.

When asked about Asare’s recent appointment to the VCDC’s Board of Directors, Founder Felicia Asare said, “Kwasi Asare brings 20+ years of experience in philanthropy, brand building, finance, and digital marketing. That experience is priceless.”
