LUCID Vision Labs expands production on Triton2 2.5GigE camera

LUCID Vision Labs Inc. last week announced the series production of its latest Triton2 – 2.5GigE camera. The company said it includes features for enhanced sensitivity, a compact and rugged design, and high resolution for industrial applications.

The Triton2 TRT024G camera features Gpixel’s GMAX4002 global shutter CMOS image sensor with near-infrared (NIR) sensitivity.

“With the continued expansion of our Triton2 – 2.5GigE camera family, we’re providing a comprehensive range of image sensors and resolutions to cater to a diverse range of applications,” said Rod Barman, founder and president of LUCID Vision Labs, in a release. “The Triton2 featuring Gpixel’s GMAX4002 offers enhanced NIR sensitivity, and its wide aspect-ratio 2.4 MP resolution is well suited for applications such as fruit sorting, ANPR [automatic number-plate recognition], and logistics.”

Founded in 2017, LUCID Vision Labs designs and manufactures machine vision cameras and components. The Richmond, B.C., Canada-based company said its compact, high-performance GigE Vision cameras are suitable for a wide range of industries and applications such as factory automation, medical, life sciences, and logistics.

LUCID Vision Labs has offices in Germany, Japan, South Korea, China, and Taiwan.

Triton2 designed for performance, toughness

LUCID Vision Labs said its new 2.4 MP sensor is designed around a 4 μm charge domain global shutter pixel and offers a 2048(H) x 1200(V) resolution within a 1/1.7-in. optical format. Each 4 μm pixel achieves a full well capacity of 12k e-, read noise less than 3 e-, and a maximum dynamic range of 68.5 dB in 12-bit mode, said the company.

It added that advanced pixel design and manufacturing techniques have yielded performance. That includes a peak Quantum Efficiency (QE) of 72% at 550 nm and over 37% at 850 nm, thanks to Gpixel’s Red Fox NIR enhancement technology, according to LUCID Vision Labs.

The Triton2 camera features a Factory Tough IP67-rated industrial platform, “delivering unparalleled performance within a compact, cost-effective, and uncompromising camera design,” claimed the company.

LUCID Vision Labs plans for easy integration

“The integration of a 2.5GigE (300 MB/sec.) interface enhances bandwidth while retaining the benefits of a compact size, efficient thermal management, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) support,” said LUCID Vision Labs.

The company said it has designed the the 2.5GBASE-T Triton2 for easy integration by enabling rapid data-transfer rates and supporting standard CAT5e and CAT6 cables up to 100 meters. LUCID added that all of its cameras conform to the GigE Vision 2.0 and GenICam3 standards and are supported by its own Arena software development kit.

The Arena software development kit (SDK) provides customers with access to the latest industry standards and software, said the company. LUCID Vision Labs’ SDK supports the Windows, Linux 64-bit, and Linux ARM operating systems, as well as the C, C++, C#, and Python programming languages.

The company’s product portfolio includes the Helios2+ time-of-flight (ToF) camera and the Atlas10 camera, which includes the 65 MP Gpixel GMAX3265 image sensor.
