Meet the New Family Vet! The Vets Just Raised $40M to Bring White Glove Veterinary Care

The Vets, a pet care startup based in New York, has raised $40 million in seed funding to help provide at-home care for pets across the United States.

The seed funding round was co-led by Target Global, Pico Venture Partners, and Bolt Ventures, bringing the total capital raised by the startup since its inception to $42 million. Daniel Sagis, CEO and Co-Founder of The Vets, said about the round:

“For too long, veterinarians have been overworked, underpaid, and under-appreciated. At our core, we believe happy, healthy pets come from happy, healthy vets. This funding round will further position The Vets as the next generation of pet healthcare, leveraging preemptive technology, allowing us to strengthen our footprint and penetrate new markets much more efficiently and effectively.”

The Vets was founded back in 2021 by Daniel Sagis (CEO), Dori Fussmann (COO), and Shmuel Chafets (Chairman) as part of Target Global’s venture building program with the mission to improve veterinary care in the United States. Ever since, the startup has served over 7,000 pets across 9 major cities and it plans to expand to 25 cities by the end of the year.

To fulfill its mission, The Vets is offering its users “white glove” care directly to pet owners’ homes, allowing veterinarians to provide exceptional care while maintaining a positive work/life balance that ultimately benefits the pets. Dr. Amanda Cairncross, a Veterinarian and DVM working with The Vets, referred to the return of the concept of “family vet” by saying:

“I joined The Vets because I was looking for something different than a traditional veterinary clinic. I missed the bond I created with my pet clients and patients as I had so many appointments throughout the day. The Vets built an environment where I have more time to cultivate relationships. When I am able to help patients or pet parents that cannot physically get to the clinic for help, it is more rewarding for me.”

According to APPA, more than 106 million American households have at least a dog or a cat, which has increased the demand for veterinarians and quality service, resulting in burned-out professionals and increased turnover. With pet parents now caring more than ever about their pet’s health, The Vets believe its unique approach can help all the parties while ensuring pets get the best care possible.
