NVIDIA Omniverse is Now Available to Millions of Individual NVIDIA Studio Creators Using GeForce RTX and NVIDIA RTX GPUs
Projects on modeling 3D scenes can get complicated quickly, and many of them require cross-platform support and seamless collaboration opportunities to deliver the best outcomes. With graphics designing, 3D modeling, and game development projects getting more realistic, the amount of data involved in each of such projects is getting bigger. These projects often require collaborations from creators working from very distant locations. In addition, a vast number of AI-powered innovations and graphics processing power are needed to execute such projects.
To address the issues stated, NVIDIA has recently made its NVIDIA Omniverse available to millions of creators using GeForce RTX and NVIDIA RTX GPUs. Omniverse allows for real-time collaboration of creators across the globe and is compatible with different systems and platforms. Omniverse provides the creator’s ability to plug their preferable sets of 3D design tools for a single scene. The facility of using a wide range of apps simultaneously for creating and editing 3D models has provided creators worldwide with an easy tool to establish a metaverse.
Currently, NVIDIA provides Omniverse Platform, which is free, and Omniverse Enterprise for businesses, which is paid. Many new Omniverse features have been added that are freely accessible to any individual GeForce RTX Studio creator. Creators can use Omniverse Nucleus Cloud that enables working with cloud-shared 3D scenes, removing the requirement to upload and download massive datasets. Omniverse Machinima has free characters and settings from famous game titles that game-loving creators can use to recreate game cinematics by simply selecting the assets from the Machinima library. A revolutionary AI-based application called Omniverse Audio2Face has been added to add face animations using a speech track. This alleviates the highly time-consuming task of animating a face, which was earlier done manually by creators, thus freeing up a lot of their time.
Omniverse also provides a lot of connectors built by multiple partners that the creators can utilize for creating various kinds of scenes/animations. The e-on software’s PlantFactory connector allows modeling a wide range of foliage. Also, the e-on software’s VUE aids the user to create digital 3D nature scenes like clouds, vegetation, water bodies, rocks, etc. based on natural rules. The detailed list of connectors can be found here.
NVIDIA’s Omniverse is a very optimistic push towards realizing a metaverse with interconnected virtual 3D worlds with possible applications in entertainment, education, industrial planning, defense, architectural design, and commerce.
There are numerous applications in medicine and anatomy education using augmented reality, providing higher immersion and a richer learning experience. The metaverse can provide VR tours to potential customers in the real estate business, reducing costs and saving time for real estate agents. Military applications of metaverse include using AR for tagging enemy and ally using specialized goggles and possibly incorporating GPS navigation facilities into the AR goggles too.
Many industries and businesses are now creating “digital twins” of their operation plants, products, office places, etc. A “digital twin” is a digital replica of some physical entity. Implementing new innovative ideas, testing of diagnostic procedures, and observing long-run behavior of systems can be carried out on these digital twins without wasting any physical space or monetary resources. This capability of simulating large-scale systems with very minimal costs can quickly improve the operations of many commercial, manufacturing, and business firms. NVIDIA Omniverse platform is free for all individual creators and can be downloaded from the following link. Combined with the power of VR headsets, AR goggles, better display screens, and several smart wireless human-machine interfaces, developments by creators using Omniverse can create a very immersive and rich experience for upcoming metaverse platforms.
