Emerging, self-made contemporary American Fashion Designer Patrick Cupid unveils the “Diurnal” Spring – Summer (SS) 24 collection. “Diurnal” looks forward by glancing back to the 1960s, an era of powerful social evolution in fashion — women of the time speaking up and stepping out. Pre-orders are available for the SS 24 collection starting on December 15, 2023.
“I drew inspiration from the 1960s for my new collection because it rapidly changed the fashion industry. Women challenged the status quo of the time to make their voices heard, revealing new individual styles,” says Patrick Cupid, an American contemporary fashion designer.
Patrick Cupid delivers a playful take on the transition of style sensibilities when the wasp waist silhouette gave way to the modernity of youth culture. The season’s color pallet introduces vibrant tones when combined in that unique formula true to the Patrick Cupid brand, creating an almost iridescent effect. Dusty orange is the core color for SS 24, flanked by Gibraltar and fiery red. In keeping with the collection’s theme, a touch of vintage pink adds a subtle, understated calm to the array of hues.
Floral motifs have returned in the new collection as Patrick Cupid continues to push the boundaries of abstract expression in print. Inspired by the works of Franck de las Mercedes, Patrick Cupid takes a new direction with giant florals in his signature style that are playful and delicately aggressive all at once — juxtaposed with a more earthy post-modern marbled symphony of color. Crisp silks, crinkled linen, and large swaths of cotton are the perfect canvas for Patrick Cupid’s new collection.
“Diurnal” is boldly expressed through full circle silhouettes in breezy minimalist cuts that flow with the body’s motion, anchoring the collection mode while reflecting the concept of things that occur during the day. A style is just as comfortable swaying in a slow cantor down Fifth Avenue or billowing along the shore. A collection that truly lives up to its name.
Gone are the days of a familiar style between women set by social mores. Fashion has adapted to the many different individuals we hadn’t seen before coming into the light. They are no longer relegated to a particular sector of society but create new positions and occupy spaces they previously had not required sensibilities in clothing.
“My new collection reminds us to open the doors of possibility, ourselves, and step into the light of day. The standard mode of dress is no longer suitable for the trajectory of the autonomous thinker,” says Cupid.
The following high-end boutique stores will carry his luxury designs: CityGirl Atelier (San Francisco, CA), Felt (Chicago, IL), EJ On Thames (Newport, Rhode Island), Sandy Glam Boutique (Rhode Island), De-Essentia (Charlotte, N. C.), Shop Boutique (South Carolina), Affaire Estrangers (Paris, France), Wolf And Badger (London, Britain).
