Investment platform PrimaryBid has announced the appointment of Sir Donald Brydon CBE as the firm’s first chair.
Brydon will step down as chairman of financial software company Sage on 30 September and has previously been chair of the London Stock Exchange, Royal Mail and the London Metal Exchange. He has also held senior positions at Barclays and AXA.
His appointment is subject to Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) approval.
The PrimaryBid digital platform enables public companies to include private individuals in capital raises through IPOs or funding rounds.
Brydon’s appointment follows a $50 million Series B fundraise for the fintech in October 2020 and an EU launch in June following full regulatory approval by the bloc. The firm also ran the community IPOs for Deliveroo and PensionBee in 2021.
Brydon comments: “Both individual investors and public companies stand to benefit when our capital markets are accessible to all, and PrimaryBid has been at the forefront of this inclusion agenda.”
PrimaryBid CEO Anand Sambasivan says Brydon brings significant FTSE board experience and proven governance credentials.
“His experience will be of great benefit as we continue to deliver on PrimaryBid’s ambition to build more inclusive public markets through our technology,” Sambasivan adds.
