Israeli venture capital firm Team8 has appointed Aviad Harell, co-founder of Sisense, as a managing partner.
Harell, Team8 said, will be responsible for launching and backing new data-centric startups. Harell will work on ideating as well as recruiting entrepreneurs.
Based in the US since 2013, Harell co-founded business intelligence startup Sisense and led several departments at the startup, including research and development, product management, customer management, and more.
He has also been responsible for expanding the US business of Sisense, where the company is now headquartered.
“As digitization processes within organizations accelerate, data has become an extremely critical field. Today, smart decision-making must be data-driven,” Nadav Zafrir, Founder and Managing Partner of Team8, said in a statement.
“Because of his unique experience, knowledge, and skills in the field of data, Aviad is the right person to help us expand the group’s activities and build companies that will move the industry forward,” Zafrir said.
According to its website, Team8 has backed more than 25 startups. These include Akeyless, Visiblerisk, Spott, Noogata, Planck, Monogoto, Curv, Cyberpion, Classiq, Duality, Dig, Fundguard, illusive and Sayata, to name a few.
Harell holds a BA in computer science from the Reichman University (IDC Herzliya) from where he graduated in 2004 and founded Sisense soon after obtaining his degree.
