Twos, a Tampa Bay-based tech startup, disrupted the app market last year with a unique tool designed specifically to help people remember things. The app’s innovative technology enables users to capture and recall notes, calendar events, and to-do items in one easy-to-use platform. Not only does Twos have simple, powerful features, but it is also free to use which quickly positioned it as a standout competitor in the personal knowledge management space.
Now, Twos is carving out its own niche in the market with the launch of Twos World: an in-app marketplace of personal recommendations, recipe lists, how-tos, and other valuable user-generated content. The community sharing feature went live earlier this month following the raise of a $1.4 million pre-seed investment round led by venture capital firm TampaBay.Ventures.
Within Twos World, users can search for lists and information from the Twos community, then copy those lists directly into their personal Twos space for easy reference. The feature offers an outlet for everyone—from home cooks, business executives, and social media influencers—to share written recommendations and content with a public audience that may otherwise be inaccessible.
“By merging an all-in-one tool with a public-facing information database, we’re building a platform that will transform the ways in which people write, remember, and share information,” said Twos co-founder Joe Steilberg. He and fellow co-founder Parker Klein, a former Google engineer, suggest this is just the start of a larger shift in the use of social media.
A new era of online search
The explosion of TikTok in 2022 has pointed to a rising trend that could shake up Silicon Valley: the way we search for information online is changing. Google’s own studies have shown nearly 40% of young people moving to TikTok or Instagram as their primary search engines due to the more personal nature of social media (both in the information that’s being shared, and in the way it’s tailored to users).
This shift opens the doors for apps like Twos to jump in the “search engine” ring. Instead of sifting through pages of Google results and ads to find reliable travel tips or cleaning hacks, users can search Twos World to instantly source top recommendations from real people. And unlike TikTok or Instagram, which are mainly limited to video and photo content, the written nature of Twos World enables users to instantly transfer information to their own personal notes—no screenshots or manual copying required.
As Twos World settles into the social media realm, it even has the foundation to support existing content creators that make a living online—or birth an entirely new subgenre of Twos influencers. The publishing and saving of all content on Twos World is currently free, but future iterations will include a monetization feature that allows users to accept payments for access to their lists.
